The Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene had its beginning on October 29th, 1964 when a group of 9 people met together in a home, seeking God's direction for the opening of a Nazarene church in the area.
In November 1965, the congregation rented and renovated the Friends Meeting House in Fawn Grove. Worship services were held there at that location for 5 years as the people gathered each week to worship, fellowship, and believe together in God's leading for the future.
The church was officially organized on April 3, 1966.
By 1970, the church had purchased a plot of land over the state line in Pylesville, Maryland, only a mile from where they had been meeting. After some time to develop the land and build, the initial sanctuary was dedicated on April 12, 1970.
By 1973, a Sunday School wing was added to the building. Then in response to growth in the congregation over the next several years, a new sanctuary was needed, so on September 13, 1987 a dedication was held for the new sanctuary, the administrative wing of the church, and the Fellowship Hall below the sanctuary.
A warehouse for compassionate ministries was built on the property in 2001. From this building, under the leadership of Rev. John Borgal, urgent care items, clothing, toys, school supplies, etc., go out to the ends of the earth. Clothing is also made available to those in need in our local community.
The current pastor, Rev. Jonathan Batchelder, has served the church since his arrival on November 1, 2009.
